Glendale "Bugler" - Wings of Freedom

With Spring in the air, look to the skies for the B-17 Flying Fortress Nine-O-Nine and the B-24 Liberator The Dragon and His Tail coming to an airport near you. In eleven years of touring, they have made well over 1200 stops at cities and towns across the U.S. and in Alaska. Sponsored by the Collings Foundation in Stow, Massachusetts, the Wings of Freedom tour provides a unique opportunity for the public to both tour the inside of the aircraft and to actually fly in the World War II bombers. Additional historic aircraft operated by the Collings Foundation have made joint appearances with the Liberator and Flying Fortress. The foundation sponsors several off-site educational/restoration workshops in Florida and Texas.

Over the past eleven years and with the help of volunteers, the foundation has undertaken and completed more restoration projects than either the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum or the Air Force Museum. Their volunteer network includes all ages - from high school students to World War II veterans.

The Collings Foundation depends solely upon private funding. For more information, contact them at 978-568-8924 or aa909@aol.com. They also have a website at http://www.collingsfoundation.org.
